<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Coronavirus Quarantine is presenting oodles of time to work on projects. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">First up is the sixth step of the Scrap Dance Mystery, to assemble 12 blocks. I had one oops, as you can see in the picture...</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN74dQ9IzH3_-8joKhyphenhyphenOadiQRWxADpHcgqFu072bA_6E-1mXtYy5t3LgiiXreZQeMjXIRA3PfE9CK8zR76eifvSGgExs8joK5gO4sP7jJ7T8Z8Z7orvrWStp5hbeAYbeixruXoDil0WLs/s1600/20200502_103127.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN74dQ9IzH3_-8joKhyphenhyphenOadiQRWxADpHcgqFu072bA_6E-1mXtYy5t3LgiiXreZQeMjXIRA3PfE9CK8zR76eifvSGgExs8joK5gO4sP7jJ7T8Z8Z7orvrWStp5hbeAYbeixruXoDil0WLs/s320/20200502_103127.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">In two weeks the final step will be posted, using the HSTs, background, and remaining colored squares. I am curious about the layout!</span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">On to working on more quilts for the disabled kids going to camp. Someone donated this small flimsy with a cat focus fabric. I had no idea how to make it bigger or what kind of colors to use. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjF-jwOHwiMSegF9RIWP27biaJIqhyx4oOmJ0C2Y09eYbhORrbwSkBeaftMAMF1J7W8mq-jGhdZx5E4fJwWLdd3Gl41ZfDvumOPhc7Q8hcm8sRJ0m2UxWs663vZb2q7qr0eFhh4nuCdmkY/s1600/SW+cats+flimsy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjF-jwOHwiMSegF9RIWP27biaJIqhyx4oOmJ0C2Y09eYbhORrbwSkBeaftMAMF1J7W8mq-jGhdZx5E4fJwWLdd3Gl41ZfDvumOPhc7Q8hcm8sRJ0m2UxWs663vZb2q7qr0eFhh4nuCdmkY/s400/SW+cats+flimsy.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Digging through my stash, I came across this southwest-themed border fabric. It was used on a church quilt in 2009; there was a lot of fabric leftover. It caught my eye because the colors look so much like the colors in the cat flimsy.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQTDahBpdSCtHQRz7-dhSQtPYLzELHNPeIWAD8bm5VH0FETvNAgeJ5wZM6sSz7uBTc7DU4YWs3Xk_PGr-esZWc_8lhwFHFsdaSuXxWKRUtxVni_Rg6kQX58zEKL8D8TCdW1Bpit_zgXI8/s1600/SW+cats+border.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQTDahBpdSCtHQRz7-dhSQtPYLzELHNPeIWAD8bm5VH0FETvNAgeJ5wZM6sSz7uBTc7DU4YWs3Xk_PGr-esZWc_8lhwFHFsdaSuXxWKRUtxVni_Rg6kQX58zEKL8D8TCdW1Bpit_zgXI8/s200/SW+cats+border.jpg" width="150" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcBX_em1amP_VlWZCMIXwojruqdurWTb2xiNgo_So7l1R97V_2d02JZXKOxH9YGTaETw8_EvEqjnKkgpc6r4YmP8UwOAkCwZ6SsItlG-mej_qREGy8gxIBFTahjtUJMb408zvrVCQlWRs/s1600/Sorterberg.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="564" height="170" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcBX_em1amP_VlWZCMIXwojruqdurWTb2xiNgo_So7l1R97V_2d02JZXKOxH9YGTaETw8_EvEqjnKkgpc6r4YmP8UwOAkCwZ6SsItlG-mej_qREGy8gxIBFTahjtUJMb408zvrVCQlWRs/s200/Sorterberg.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">So I added a containment border in teal and then added the final border. Yes, I fussy cut the fabric and then mitered the corners. I enjoy that kind of challenge! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIoYl2uUJF0Ncp-0Nk9dEGWp15_eh6lx_mChrRBm-9FB-TFEtiL1Ymrv4bzcLXFTjKDJ7cqChnhZ6Y853pO_mOkmgBHoKfxanMhyy3Fcyprd10fqsr85Yau2P-wQPUqXZjsplfOlR-DXw/s1600/SW+cats.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIoYl2uUJF0Ncp-0Nk9dEGWp15_eh6lx_mChrRBm-9FB-TFEtiL1Ymrv4bzcLXFTjKDJ7cqChnhZ6Y853pO_mOkmgBHoKfxanMhyy3Fcyprd10fqsr85Yau2P-wQPUqXZjsplfOlR-DXw/s640/SW+cats.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Another donation was a bag with 12 sampler blocks made in batik fabric, as well as yardage of multicolored-pastel batik that had all the colors of the blocks. I used that for sashing. Now it needed a border. Nothing from my stash or the stash of my friend could match this. I felt it needed a teal border. So I went to Joann Fabrics</span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAx8IO5tPvmsui0bGRiIdL5DWS6WhJtiDUGhDkOwpjoP5u6kbQJKgHNpG_7Kcpbs9vblR4faHmjezViLBSoQ7oEFZvKBCfur8H9E1B29h68chSVZ2WS0qELqJCVm5SWa03tCEp_DrA7sQ/s1600/Pastel+Batik+Sampler.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1298" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAx8IO5tPvmsui0bGRiIdL5DWS6WhJtiDUGhDkOwpjoP5u6kbQJKgHNpG_7Kcpbs9vblR4faHmjezViLBSoQ7oEFZvKBCfur8H9E1B29h68chSVZ2WS0qELqJCVm5SWa03tCEp_DrA7sQ/s320/Pastel+Batik+Sampler.jpg" width="259" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I waited outside in a line for an hour and a half. When I got inside the store, I was shocked at the empty shelves in the quilt fabric section. There were very few batiks, but there was one teal that I thought was just right! It was worth the wait, for the quilt shines!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7kQBGyaNb1oj5ht6ansTOPXYSPZe3-uD0WHWGSTkTcljYNQ1d3hFQ4LvD0GAqQO4aAkJwJgFnXiKJWJOt4wzUkd2kqIyCdxDjGGm0d5rE7xLPr_fhobfF3zeWRHBWXlKxoovCkBgCt7c/s1600/Pastel+Batik+Sampler1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7kQBGyaNb1oj5ht6ansTOPXYSPZe3-uD0WHWGSTkTcljYNQ1d3hFQ4LvD0GAqQO4aAkJwJgFnXiKJWJOt4wzUkd2kqIyCdxDjGGm0d5rE7xLPr_fhobfF3zeWRHBWXlKxoovCkBgCt7c/s640/Pastel+Batik+Sampler1.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I found these in the donation bin. It was easy to see how to make this into a quick quilt.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXpjdU6DNVW7cFP5y7IC9hn-VAfXIXyAYj4JALpD7LB5NXq65BeV_rO4yfWbsi8pf1Oyk3DQySgeBUaGr-APVcr3WnIeJ_P21TBcBGcdZ3pV6-5DpqTZCjkkiLNlCx_ZYVYfrM8RdE60w/s1600/20200424_093824.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1461" data-original-width="1600" height="292" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXpjdU6DNVW7cFP5y7IC9hn-VAfXIXyAYj4JALpD7LB5NXq65BeV_rO4yfWbsi8pf1Oyk3DQySgeBUaGr-APVcr3WnIeJ_P21TBcBGcdZ3pV6-5DpqTZCjkkiLNlCx_ZYVYfrM8RdE60w/s320/20200424_093824.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Sew the two pieces together, trim to the correct size, add two borders, and here is the finished quilt. I think it is so sweet; it looks like something a grama would make in her little white cottage!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">One last project. I am making quilt kits; I am hoping women in my guild will step up and take a kit to assemble a very simple row quilt for the kids camp. Two are superheros, two are fire engines, and one is a fun cartoon of a bear riding a bicycle.</span></div>

She loves that shirt! I had leftover fabric that I discovered while sorting my fabric stash. I knew it could become a cute quilt for the special needs kid's camp. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I completed the fifth step of the Twist Mystery Quilt-along. Very simple, to sew the four-patches together with a background square in between. I am so curious to see what we will be doing with these!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">This is my sewing table. There are many projects in process. I see at least 6 different quilt projects represented here! It looks like a tremendous mess, but everything is in piles and there is no confusion. Not yet.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I am making small quilts for a camp that hosts special needs children in the summer. Each camper goes home with a quilt. My quilt guild is dedicated to helping with the need; as keeper of orphan blocks (donated blocks that have no purpose for the maker), I am having a lot of fun picking through the bin and designing ways to use the blocks.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">One bag had these twelve batik blocks, plus some batik that matches the colors. Last night I sewed them together with sashing. It is small, 37" x 48"; I will add 4" borders to bring it up to the requested size of 48" x 60". </span></div>

Got them done, but then discovered I messed up...</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgusohgn0w_SB_6zp39N_XNUPTDiN3rIy7GfnNbpLnMk_eQhBW5oUhEtAu3cHYIIUmKVpOAehOkyLmnFvW1zleQibfLlQKTKiTZlqIJ0GBo4CbE-MlpzbzRTEZPkjIgOhu9le_T8zFVq0Q/s1600/20200408_104515.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgusohgn0w_SB_6zp39N_XNUPTDiN3rIy7GfnNbpLnMk_eQhBW5oUhEtAu3cHYIIUmKVpOAehOkyLmnFvW1zleQibfLlQKTKiTZlqIJ0GBo4CbE-MlpzbzRTEZPkjIgOhu9le_T8zFVq0Q/s400/20200408_104515.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I sewed the 4.5" squares instead of the 5" squares. Good think I had not cut them apart yet. That would have been disaster. Hello ripper.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Fortunately I have this handy dandy sewing tool that gets taped to my sewing table. It makes quick and easy work of sewing squares on the diagonal.</span></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I had the 5" squares done in no time; I cut them apart, ironed them, then squared them up.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I also finished the fourth step, which was to sew the pieces from the second step into 4 patches. I put them up on the wall because the colors are so cheerful!</span></div>

<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Who knew that the coronavirus would send me back to blogging! I've spent the first week not getting much accomplished.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I am hoping this will help me finish some projects. But first I am starting a new one. There are many sew-alongs online, and this one captured my fancy.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Carole is hosting this quilt-along at <a href="https://frommycarolinahome.com/category/2020-scrap-dance-twist/">https://frommycarolinahome.com/category/2020-scrap-dance-twist/</a>. She started in January and she posts once a month. The steps are very easy. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I've chosen to use the leftover fabrics from Tula Pink's line Flutterby from 2008. I made a tuffet back then...</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I have kept the leftovers in a bag stored away ever since. I have just enough to make this Twist mystery quilt. Today I cut the fabrics. </span><br />

I have too many projects! I got behind on the RSC Challenge but I pushed to finish up yellow blocks this week. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"> Here are the rest of the blocks I have finished. I did not do the multi-colored blocks in April.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Blue is the color chosen for July. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">I made more blocks with the floral strings. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">But I have now put these aside because I am working on a graduation quilt; yes, it will be a belated gift. But I am not showing any pictures as I want it to be kept a surprise.</span><br />

I assembled them last year, but they kind of got buried during the holidays!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">The first one is a simple baby quilt. There were so many of the blue floral squares that I put them in their own quilt. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDDpiVEDSNyzY3CaHyrevhkmvm_Nn0KSoTwkskaFK2TcqK9iUIzQctFS4lGgKwFRcqXf5ck7p7ZKQoCMgtnlZ-mfFRu_oO-yDiTgfIixUlxQTuCdCblUQBmhhotE_fNtO8YCEV1gPHBfg/s1600/zzcharity.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDDpiVEDSNyzY3CaHyrevhkmvm_Nn0KSoTwkskaFK2TcqK9iUIzQctFS4lGgKwFRcqXf5ck7p7ZKQoCMgtnlZ-mfFRu_oO-yDiTgfIixUlxQTuCdCblUQBmhhotE_fNtO8YCEV1gPHBfg/s640/zzcharity.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">The second one is a lap quilt; I thought I should try to make at least one masculine quilt!</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I've passed these on for quilting and binding. Glad to have them all out of the house at last!</span></div>

Such a difference!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Here it is without the borders: Not all that attractive, just okay.</span><br />

Angela, the blog hostess chooses one color each month, and she challenges her readers to use scraps in that color to make blocks. Eventually a participant will have enough blocks to make a quilt in the colors of the rainbow.</span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Well, this year I am playing along! </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">The color in January was purple. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I start with 2" squares, and the finished block size is 9".</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">A few years ago I was trimming red scraps into usable squares. What to do with the leftover bits of fabrics that were too small for squares but too large for the wastebasket? I made slab blocks!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">I simply sew together the scraps until the slab measures between 6 and 8 inches square. The backside of the slab shows many seams, making the blocks thick and heavy. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I've had a mess on my dining room table, and I have been determined to get it cleaned up. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I had been sorting some fabrics and also cutting up the teal blue scraps into usable squares</span>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlHr9isuceWSFzBBJEGsT6tONzXIvnIkee0AmSDWKicokJX_d_ca-wrsom6418mWiaw7p0_F84pReXy9O0qDWpol4Ch6dOnpsw_viQWTGCYqNzI5IfLfWb86q4rwJamVCkZERYxQYMIU4/s1600/mess2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlHr9isuceWSFzBBJEGsT6tONzXIvnIkee0AmSDWKicokJX_d_ca-wrsom6418mWiaw7p0_F84pReXy9O0qDWpol4Ch6dOnpsw_viQWTGCYqNzI5IfLfWb86q4rwJamVCkZERYxQYMIU4/s400/mess2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Here is the result of perseverance! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">*The table is cleaned off. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">*Nice piles of teal blue squares will be added to the storage boxes. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">*There is a pile of leftover scraps that can be sewed into improvisational blocks. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">*I also cut out enough colorful fabrics to make six additional blocks for a charity quilt.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSo59IgOG_AUY-8JfzWk8g4tu7hxAc8nsPbBoXY4O3WfAbs-GfgfHwG8TTVzg1EQp25OYtvXmI6M2h5FGwpU1fGtQOi06UE4BeYAJM2W1eXtEDkUng9T7hMpzC0idK2SHUbW5sVwyQTwc/s1600/mess.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSo59IgOG_AUY-8JfzWk8g4tu7hxAc8nsPbBoXY4O3WfAbs-GfgfHwG8TTVzg1EQp25OYtvXmI6M2h5FGwpU1fGtQOi06UE4BeYAJM2W1eXtEDkUng9T7hMpzC0idK2SHUbW5sVwyQTwc/s400/mess.jpg" width="298" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I sewed those six blocks together, then got busy arranging the squares into a pleasing design. </span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I like this one best!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">This setting is kind of fun, but it does not look so nice using these unrelated fabric scraps.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">During the month of January I sewed three charity quilts. A friend was given a fabric stash of a quilter who had gone blind. She asked for help in sewing the fabrics into charity quilts. I took home a bag of 6" squares. The individual fabrics were not all that beautiful, but I managed to use them to make three attractive scrappy quilts.</span></span><br />

I made two more Victorian Christmas costumes for new members of the homeschool ensemble group. (Daughter has graduated, but I was happy to make additional costumes this year.)</span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I am English Paper Piecing hexagons! </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">My quilt guild challenge this year was to make a piece that included shapes and the color blue. I used the book <u>The New Hexagon</u> by <span class="kno-fb-ctx" data-ved="0ahUKEwib98eDhafJAhVQ9GMKHZwLDeQQ2koIkAEoATAQ">Katja Marek as the basis for my incorporation of shapes.</span></span></span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="635" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht2frb6wlX9S6WLaIfEGxMZSE6mTO9z3xjqu2G0HlP3EFqP80VSk7OyorfeN9gbOtYIgj-Cke9mNjM_DXeQBLq5eH-Z9jDsyQrXvIsEFdTOxuTY_LNDR38eQridsiFOdESeC6mBJUDgSc/s640/IMG_4679.JPG" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" width="640" /></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Rhombus, Trapezoid, Triangle, Parallelogram, Hexagon, Rectangle, Square</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I used different colors to highlight the geometric shapes I used within each hexagon. The background fabric looks like a starry night. </span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Of course, for the back I had to use something else space-related...how about monkey astronauts?!!! </span></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Another hexie project I have been working on is this: </span></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid_2tG25UzOsZ9OtxCaUxpOAlVNEWRH_31wxutqZnQbny5Q_327dDy3JhDEEeWuIiDjZUjBmn-KIYxSraEL9ybq7HDN3vQBzphJ1gb_mjmxtfAtZ_Q8pSzJojD6bb07KrgmMesojw9KQE/s1600/IMG_4688.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="460" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid_2tG25UzOsZ9OtxCaUxpOAlVNEWRH_31wxutqZnQbny5Q_327dDy3JhDEEeWuIiDjZUjBmn-KIYxSraEL9ybq7HDN3vQBzphJ1gb_mjmxtfAtZ_Q8pSzJojD6bb07KrgmMesojw9KQE/s640/IMG_4688.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">I hand-pieced most of this while on a cruise this summer. The line of fabric is called Caravan, designed by Jennifer Young for Benartex Fabrics. It is so fun to chose a particular design repeat in the fabrics for a stunning effect. </span></span><br />
<br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">So far it measures approximately 26 inches around. I will add more hexagons, but not until after the holidays.</span></span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">This was a very fun quilt to make, from choosing fabrics (<em>purple is not an easy color to find this year</em>) to designing the pattern! Husband drew the animals for me, and Daughter was the design consultant (<em>she has a really good eye</em>). </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: large;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: large;">I machine quilted this one, my first time trying a free motion design! I used minky on the back with no batting. It is a cute and cuddly quilt for Emma!</span><br />

Here are the quilts that were presented on June 7.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">The first is a double bow tie pattern: each block contains two bow ties.</span> </span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">The second is a single bow tie, also known as an hour glass block, set in a modern layout.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">The third is a split nine patch block, set in a barn raising pattern.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">The fourth one is a four patch block set on point with sashing and cornerstones. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
