Church Foyer Update

It has been a busy busy week with the updating of the church foyer in progress. It was painted a beautiful taupe color last Sunday and Monday. All week I have been working on the rest of the finishes, including recovering the bulletin boards so they are now all the same color!

BEFORE

Good riddance, old pink L-shaped table!  Brown bulletin board with visitors information.

AFTER
Ministries bulletin board, filled with information regarding ministry in the church (such as elder terms, nursery schedule, greeter/usher schedule, etc). And a new table, where sign up sheets for ministry opportunities will be placed.

BEFORE
The catch-all wall...magazine rack, free literature racks, old Awana plaques, the blue bulletin board with ministries and announcements. Really ancient telephone in the corner.
AFTER
The unfinished missions bulletin board, where pictures of missionaries and info on their ministries will be hung. The wall space will have missions related artwork...

BEFORE
The former missionary (pink) bulletin boards with missions display table. And to the right of the door is the church building plan.

AFTER
The new welcome center with visitors information to the right. And on the left is the new announcement board, now called 'news', where thank-you notes are posted as well as general church information.

Three Graduation Quilts

My church had three high school graduates this year. Here are the quilts presented to them.

The blue, grey and black quilt is the Broken Dishes quilt block, strategically planned out so the black/dark grey blocks and the blue/light grey blocks made diagonal stripes.

The pink and brown quilt pattern is by Amy Friend called "Sweet Tea".

The multi-colored string quilt uses all Denise Schmidt fabrics collected from the Joann clearance shelf over several years.

This and That

I wanted to show a few things today...

I'm working on a "T" quilt. I experimented with different sizes using scrap fabric; I will be making the 8" block.

I purchased a side table for the living room.

Beef Bone Broth! I am always so glad to have some in the freezer, used in soups. Mmmm....

Charity Quilts

During the month of January I sewed three charity quilts. A friend was given a fabric stash of a quilter who had gone blind. She asked for help in sewing the fabrics into charity quilts. I took home a bag of 6" squares. The individual fabrics were not all that beautiful, but I managed to use them to make three attractive scrappy quilts.

These pictures were taken while the blocks were hanging on the design wall; I did not get any photos of finished tops. I dropped these off at my friend's house; she long-arm quilts, binds, and donates them to needy organizations.

Each quilt is lap-sized; I have enough 6" squares to make yet another quilt, but I have put them away for now. I am in the planning stages for graduation quilts at our church.
